Regret Therapy

It's not enough to survive. It's also possible to thrive.
Everyone deserves the opportunity to live a full life.
This is where the healing begins.
Life has Momentum
There are moments in time when most things wrong can be made right. Let Jim be the stimulus that helps initiate a whole new beginning for you. Let us begin with one choice that begets another choice. Let the dominoes start falling in the right direction.
A peaceful life without medication is the ultimate high.
Drugs don’t heal the mind. They are a short-term solution without resolution. Everyone deserves the opportunity to live a full life.
I can help you put clarity and exhilaration back in your life. Putting a voice to personal concern accomplished this goal.
Talking with a professional you can trust really works.

Meet James Blundo, MA, LPC
I am Jim Blundo, former President/Executive Director of the Michigan Mental Health Counselors Association. My past employment includes teacher, school counselor, outpatient psychiatric therapist, substance abuse clinical director.
For the past 40 years, I have been a private practice counselor, devoting my time to my practice, to the community, and as an advocate for Michigan’s Counseling Profession.
And for over 40 years, I have put this knowledge to work helping families, adults, teens, executives, plus adult children of alcoholics to overcome adversities, restore their belief in themselves, release old patterns, and create the lives and relationships they desire.

“I teach people to believe in themselves”.
In all my years of private practice I have been reminded of how I have overcome my own negative life experiences. And also, over time, have developed vast counseling expertise in every scenario, so many more than you could imagine.
I am not locked into any single diagnostic category especially because lives tend to be very complicated. I believe that everyone can become the Master of their Destiny through Talk Therapy.
Counseling is not just about behaviors and feelings. My focus is on learning what is behind those behaviors and feelings that impact your life.
In order to bring about change, navigating childhood, learning the strategies and mechanisms (some good, some maybe not-so good) help you to find peace in your life. These skills move you over to a healthier adulthood.
My Unique Approach to Counseling
Self-anger creates poor self-esteem and often leads to depression and anxiety. It also creates a loneliness that can’t be resolved through behavior changes. The origin of this stems from childhood shame and childhood trauma.
I am interested in helping you find out what’s behind feelings and behavior that cause you to not function at your best, and so you can acquire a more complete mastery of self.
Medication should only be used to bridge your fears and random thoughts. Very few of my clients need to be on meds both legal and illegal for a lifetime.
Most people suffer from fear, regrets, and guilt throughout their life and stay tied to their past. This keeps you frozen and unable to lead a full life. This can be overcome through what I refer to as: Regret Resolution Therapy.

Understanding Regret & Guilt

The heavy burden of regret and guilt will keep you tied to the past.
The past is a place of reference and now is the time to deal with the present.
Understanding the trauma of childhood and adult life, the skills you learned along the way;
connecting and relating to people in the present; those skills you learned in childhood to you carried into the present.
The main problem most people suffer from is not believing in themselves.
Events in their life, their teachers, and even their family have made them feel inadequate,
unloved and/or just “not good enough”.
Regret Resolution Therapy

No one escapes our lifetime of experience. We learn from the moment we are born to the moment we die. Regrets can and do pull us down and make us lose confidence. To be certain, it’s extremely important to learn the best strategies to live a fulfilling life otherwise anxiety and depression win. We decline and fail to thrive.
We need to learn to accept things out of our control. Often, there is rarely closure and you don’t understand the “why” behind it. Regret Resolution Therapy teaches how to thrive without closure.
My approach to counseling is based on training but mostly life experience and counseling thousands of adults. The results of my approach lead to a more balanced life and the tools to deal more effectively with much less anxiety and depression.
I will work with you to build around learning not to cause unintended sabotage through self-shame and inward anger. This is not a gimmicky or quick fix but a much better chance to thrive throughout the remainder of your life.

" All forms of non-forgiveness are caused by
too much past and not enough present "
Eckhart Tolle
The heavy burden of regret and guilt will keep you tied to the past.
The past is a place of reference and now is the time to transition to the present.

Every client I see makes me realize how much passion I still have for the work I do.
Counseling Adults and Teens to Master their Destiny
I especially like to help teens and young adults in their 20’s and 30’s to develop an adult internalized self so they will make better choices in relationship and careers. They are on their journey in life and often find it hard to break away from dependency on parents, and create their own path in life..
Any change can lead to considerable anxiety and in some instances may lead to panic attacks and more self-doubt.
It takes more than an education, technical training, internet learning, and the advice of peers. I have helped thousands of people through talk therapy to develop their inner self.
